Guns N' Roses – Original Watercolour Painting by Chris Shopland
Experience a unique fusion of realism and impressionism with Guns N' Roses, an original painting by Bristol-based artist Chris Shopland.
Medium: Watercolour on A3 paper (11.7 x 16.5 inches)
Subject: A creative interpretation of a gun study, balanced with roses and a touch of humour
Artist: Chris Shopland
This piece originated from a watercolour class at Browns Art Centre (Tuesdays 10am-12pm & 6:30-8:30pm) with Vincent Brown. While Vincent’s version emphasised intricate realism, Chris infused the study with a more impressionistic style, playfully incorporating roses as a counterbalance to the metallic subject.
"I’d never usually paint a gun—being a pacifist, it’s not a subject I gravitate towards. But the challenge of capturing reflective metal drew me in. To bring balance and a sense of irony, I introduced roses, inspired by the phrase ‘Guns N' Roses’—and, of course, a little humour with a ‘Bang!’ comic-style twist."
